18 March - Back into Farm Life

Still doing the same old things, not a lot has changed since last month. The temperature has risen and dropped and risen again, we have had more snow, hail, ice rain and some sunny days, roll on spring, which we hear isn't totally pleasant as everything turns into one huge mud bath!

We have spent most of this month up in the woods finding dead trees to chop down to bring back to the house for fire wood.

We were given a fantastic opportunity to stay at a friends cottage for 10 days to look after their dog Sam. The cottage is on the banks of the Richelieu River, this is the place that we moored our boat off of when we first got here. It was great to have a chance to spend a little bit of time on our own.

We drove up to the farm each day to do our usual jobs and finished at around 4.30 each day. Then we would drive home and give Sam a run, put a few logs on the fire, make some dinner and relax in front of the TV with a glass of wine. It was funny as we even found Corrie on the TV for the first few nights, after that though it mysteriously disappeared and we never saw it again! It was really nice to have a little break away.

We went ice skating one weekend with Andre and some of his friends in St John on a frozen part of the canal. It was really good fun and went a lot better than my skiing, it was strange to stand on the frozen canal and think that we may be sailing up it in a couple of months time.

Mano took a trip to the vet where we got him chipped and had his rabies vaccination updated. This is something we have wanted to get done for a long time as it is the first step in the process to bringing him back into the UK without having to go through quarantine. We just need to know what we plan to do now before we can take further action with the cat!
