Great Kills Yacht Club - Staten Island

Managed to get to Great Kills in one piece after the torrential down poor and poor visibility, now the boat is surrounded in dead fish and covered in seagulls!

This one has caught himself a fish

but watch out as the cat has his eye on you!

One very fuzzy night at the Great Kills Yacht club

We met a Danish couple who kindly asked if we wanted to go shopping with them as they had the use of a car, so we dropped Pat and Les off at a launderette whilst me and Stuart went off to do the shopping (I know don't we treat our guests well when they come to visit!!)

Only problem being that we managed to lock ourselves out of the car and spent a couple of hours trying to break in before an extremely kind family who ran a car business managed to zip back to his place and get us a new key cut! Poor Pat and Les had been left waiting in the laundry for hours got bored and lugged all the clean washing back to the boat by foot!! Sorry guys :-(
Off to see the Statue of Liberty

We became part of the commuting rat race whilst we were in Great Kills, every day we caught the train to the ferry terminal then caught the free ferry to Manhattan then caught the metro to where ever we were going, we got to know quite a few faces in the end!

on the Staten Island ferry

Pat

Les and Stuart

Hello Manhattan

Today we will be visiting the Statue of Liberty and here we are leaving the dock. Good job we got our tickets earlier, look at the queue now!

on the Statue of Liberty Ferry!

We had a friendly coast guard escort

Governors Island

Ellis Island

and the lady herself

Off to the gift shop

over to Ellis Island and the Immigration Museum, there were quite a few Crowhursts who came across apparently

Back to Manhattan

The Police Museum and Brooklyn Bridge

Oh no! FBI Freeze!

Honestly officer, it wasn't me, I didn't do it!

Looks like they've got me

But a-ha, it was all a set up, it wasn't me and luckily detective Pat was on the case and caught the real criminals red handed! They are now locked up where they belong!!

They look a little to happy to me though, must cut their rationing's

No so smug now ha!

The police solve the case again!

Off to take a walk along the Brooklyn Bridge, on the way we stumbled across

The Peking! This is the boat that my dad fell asleep watching the film about around Jack and Suzie's!!

We thought that this was the place that they do all the car chases in the films, but we could be wrong?

and we quite liked the crazy fire escapes

Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge

The view over the city

Hey looks like those criminals escaped!! Oh well if you can't beat em, join em! Beer o'clock anyway! Have you ever been served beer in polystyrene cups in a bar??!! We were all very thirsty so got the large ones!

Back on the ferry on the way back to Staten Island

All worn out
