Cayos Cachinos

Our first over night trip with Caroline and Andy ended not being the tranquil sail that we had expected and apart from the cockpit filling with lots of water we also made record speeds of 10.8 knots with just the main up fully reefed! Here we are all very pleased that it has clamed down by morning.

The sun rising at Roatans West End before heading off to Cayos Cachinos

On our way from our over night stay in Roatans West End to Cayos Cachinos

Stuart getting ready to fillet the Cero fish that we caught on the way to Cayos Cachinos

Our lunch, don't think Caroline was too keen on having it raw as sushmi, but she gamely gave it a go, I don't think it has gone down on her list of favorites though!

Entering Cayos Cachinos National Park

This is the island where we accidentally gate crashed the Colombian Survivor TV show!

You can just see the contestant in the trees, he has been sent to what they call death island for the naughty contestants

Off to the next island which is inhabited by the local Garifuna fisherman

We soon found where to get a couple of beers and were soon dragged up to dance the funny wiggly bottom dance to the bongos, me and Caroline appear to have pulled a couple of toy boys.

And's one leg being shorter than the other seemed to make him an expert in this dance, although he was a little concerned that 3 dances may mean he has to marry the girl!

Stuart finding it all very amusing until he got dragged up there too

Here's the bongo players, who we did get roped into buying a litre of the local fire water for, but we all had a good time, mind you after they got their booze they did a bit of a runner!

Watching the sunset from the island

La Ceiba Ship Yard

Off the next morning to La Ceiba

Docking up in La Ceiba Shipyard for a couple of days, so we could do a big food shop and sign out of the country.

Yum yum, chicken in a basket from our favorite road side roast chicken place
Jungle River - Canopy Tour

On our way to the Jungle River Lodge in La Ceiba to do a zip line canopy tour

This was our crazy old lift up there, mind you it was more uncomfortable in this than it was on the chicken bus on the way back!

The river that runs past the front of the lodge

You can vaguely see one of the zip lines at the top left hand side of the picture

Stu all kited up and ready to go

Caroline making last minute adjustments to her helmet

And here we all are ready to go, me, Caroline, Andy and Stuart

And first of is Caroline

I have just made it to the end of the first zip line, I was the only one in the group that manage to end up coming in backwards!!! (That's not meant to happen!)

Weeeeeeeeeeeee, and here I am on the next shorter ride which all went to plan this time

Here comes Stu
and last but not least Andy. Don't we all look very serious?!!

Me whizzing through the trees, luckily I didn't spin completely anymore as I would have ended up whacking my legs into the trees! I still had a few wobbles though

The last girl of the group coming in who got the special treat of doing the Super Woman!

After all that entertainment we decided to chill out in the naturally warm pool at the front of the lodge. Here we are doing our tight old back packer routine, we brought our own wine with us to save on bar bills!!

This is the jungle river lodge that we got a free nights accommodation in.

Yeah wine, relaxing in our very own pool

Cheers!

And, yeap, we are still here after dark drinking wine!

Time for dinner and we brought our own provisions of food too! Anyone for a cheese and onion sarnie?!

Yeah! Caroline will have one, Mmmmmmm

Now for a quick game of pool

and one more beer

We even out did the parrots

The next morning waiting for the chicken but to take us back to town
