Early to raise and off down to the woods to look for the Buck's

Here's Lucien taking a walk down to the lower fields to see if they are there

Nope, none this morning

Any over there?

Ok time to give them a call

and rub the antlers up and down the tree to imitate a Buck coming into the territory

They are both wearing bright colours just incase there are any other hunters around that may be a bit trigger happy! It didn't help when stuart was holding the antlers in both hands then using his hands also to lift the binoculars to his eyes!!

Sitting in the cache waiting for the Buck's to arrive

Can't see any through here

Oh well, at the end of the day no luck, the field is still empty

Time to head back to the farm

Ok out again the next day

and back into the woods, the farm has quite an interesting history, the building that is the basis of the farm house is the only building left standing from the old town of Odleton, the rest were all burnt down by the American's (or the British depending on who's story you listen to!) and back in the woods on the property of Isabelle and Andre is the original grave yard of the old town.

It's all quite exciting when you first stumble across them, a bit spooky (I think I have watched too many horror stories!)

But the grave yard isn't the only unusual thing lurking in the wood there is also this poorly VW Beetle, and in another of the ditches is an old motor cycle

Still no joy with the hunting

Until the last day of the season, it is only a 2 week season here and luckily for Lucian (unlucky for the Buck) he managed to get his prize on the final day

Up in the woods, Isabelle comes up to lend a hand gutting the animal, which needs doing straight away as the meat will go bad very quickly if they are left in

Then on the front of the 4x4 and back to the farm

Arthur was very interested in the kill

Poor Buck :-(

A Celebratory beer

and hanging the buck up in the garage to cool down and to get the ruminants of the blood out

Arthur did a very good job of guard dog and in the previous picture he keeps Mano well out of the garage
