The lake was as flat as glass on the way out no wind again so motoring all the way

Stuart (or Chewie as he is now know with his new hairy features) behind the wheel

The lake is covered with water hyacinths at the moment which have washed down from the rivers. We had an enormous one bump into us one night when it was very windy and pitch black. It looked like a really crazy mythical creature and scared the life out of Stuart when he looked out of the window. He thought it was a bear for some bizarre reason??

We moored up at Denny's Beach again for the first and last night on our trip round the lake

We then moved on to Finca El Paraiso for the day to visit the hot waterfalls. On the walk up from the farm to the falls we grabbed a lift on the back of a tractor which was very bumpy indeed!

The waterfalls behind the trees, the battery run out on the camera after that so we never managed to get a decent picture of the falls, sods law.

We then moved up to the Bocas Del Polochic, which is a nature reserve. We took the dingy up the river passing at the mouth the dead trees the rains had washed down. It was very shallow here just come up to your knees as we found out when we grounded the dingy, so Stuart got out and pulled us to the mouth of the river. It was very eerie though a bit like an Elephant graveyard, with all the birds perched on the dead trees.

On the way up the river, it is a nature reserve and is apparently a really great place to spot Manatee's, alligators, birds and Howler Monkeys. Click here for more information on the reserve.
