Stuart doing some chart plotting on the journey up to Manatee River

Stu doing bit of fishing when we anchored up for the night to wait for the wind to pick up and take us on to our destination

The flat calm sea

The sun is setting and still not a breath of wind

Arriving in Manatee river, and being quite shocked at the size of the houses all around

We stuck the line out the back to see if we could catch some dinner and all we kept pulling up was this daft baby shark!!

Right, off you pop back in and we don't want to see you on the line again!

Crazy coloured sky, it was a little like being back in the Rio Dulce, if you turned your back to the huge houses!

Off for a walk through De Soto National Park

This is where we spotted out first racoon, and I almost got bitten by a snake!

A mock up of an old Indian dwelling

The cross on the beach

We then took the dingy over to Bradenton, to see what we could find there. It turned out to be nothing except lawyers offices! We must have gone to the wrong side of town? But we did find a fab huge library!

As we had found nothing in Bradenton we took the dingy to the other side of the river and took a look at Palmetto.

We found a little river that took you past some more modest houses and found a spot to leave the dingy. This end showed more promise and we manage to find a nice bar and a good supermarket!

We also found a helicopter on a stick!

This will be the first time we have encountered bridges on the boat, we haven't been under any as yet but will have to do so soon! Some are bascule bridges and open at set times, others you have to call to open, others are swing bridges and others are fixed, those are the scary ones as you have to be sure of your mast height if you don't want to loose it!

More stupidly big houses

Passing the sail boats that are out for the weekend
