The Lacolle Railway Bridge closing behind us as we leave Lacolle Its still a bit cold here on the water.

We don't go too far away and stop for a week at the public dock at Ile Aux Noix with little Groundhog friends

and Herons

Mano has a new life jacket which is isn't too thrilled about and still manages to wriggle out of

Next up to St Jean sur Richelieu

and on to the Chambly Canal

The day before we left one sail boat had the whole locks to himself

Here's us waiting on the dock to leave tomorrow

Then us and 2 power boats squeezed in the tiny first lock

into the canal and through lots of little bridges

This is the part where we went ice skating in the winter!

and here is the buoy we skated past

here it is again in the winter time!

and the blue boat is back in the water

rather than sitting on top of the ice

Past Fort Chambly

into the thin canal system

Out at the other end we are back on the Richelieu and on our way up to the St Lawrence

The geese are all back

the first hill we have seen for a long time

Tied up in a public dock along the river

The little town next to it

then finally to the mouth of the St Lawrence, where we tied up quickly in Sorel at a small haul out place to try and find a welder, not a fun place to stop with a lot of very stupid power boaters zooming past at high speed sending the whole dock flying

The mighty St Lawrence, a little bit daunting after the security of our nice safe Richelieu

Lunch in the Sorel Park after finally having found a welder, all set for the mast to go back up now

Anchored up in the Richelieu not far from the mouth to the St Lawrence

Here we saw a boat being unloaded for the Quebec - France Trans Atlantic race in July

At the Sorel Marina getting ready to put the mast back up

Mast is down

Mast is up! A little more time and effort required than taking it down I have to say

and off to anchor in between the islands away from the town and all those power boats

Still have to pop up the mast a little way to sort out a few bits

Still a little cold on the water

but at least we have a little opportunity to shake the sails out

On the way up to Quebec City our racing boat comes past us and gives a friendly wave, we have decided we want them to win!! (They do have cute farm animals on there boat too!)

Mano is ready for bed

and here we are just coming up under the bridge before Quebec City (at 8 knots I might add!)
